This reminds me the day I bought my second Corolla....

Me my friend and his girlfriend all piled in his Jetta for a 4 hour trip to get the car and register it, then leaving the scrap yard I got the car at I started messing about with the throttle and brake, knowing it needed struts. And at speeds around 35mph or so I had the rear end hopping about a foot off the ground.....

I worry about these types of things every time I hand over my keys. EVERY TIME.

People with cars that shot make me wonder... how long does one drive like that before they finally decide to service the vehicle? I mean, a car like that is way more dangerous than someone driving too fast or even talking on the phone so long as their cars are mechanically sound. At least they COULD avoid an accident if they saw it coming. That person would be screwed.

I always stay far away from the cars driving down the road with either pogo-ing suspension, or that one wheel that's hopping erratically over every bump.

I had a B13 Sentra that could do the same. Would have it jumping in traffic. It was a blast.

My car passed a safety somehow. But could still do this. Eventually we changed them out.

Did it by the high school parking lot and my friend fell off his truck he was laughing so hard.

I miss that deathtrap.

I miss my deathtraps too.....like my 800whp Cougar beater....Looked like hell, had NO REAR shocks, was rotting away and the passenger seat occasionally folded on people......

I was in a drive thru with my friend, he got the large drink, and this car had a 3500rpm high stall in it, so it wasn't always graceful taking off.......I mashed the loud pedal and it tossed the front end up and his soda in his lap

A safety test where? A state inspection or something?

Up in Canada. We have Provincial safeties that cars need to pass. Just makes sure everything is road worthy and not too difficult to pass. (No rust holes into the passenger compartment, decent brakes, shocks, wheel bearings, lights, etc.)

It's pretty basic and we have no smog or emissions tests.

It's nice cause if you're buying a used car that was recently safetied it'll be roadworthy and costs around $60.

Edit - Here is the safety sheet http://www.mpi.mb.ca/en/PDFs/COIsam…

Except you just said a car like above passed... so I would still get a complete inspection anyway knowing the government ones were garbage lol.

We did take it to the laziest shop around. They can loose their license if they get complaints
